Coach Martinez officially resigns as head coach

On Sept. 30, head football coach Arnold Martinez submitted a letter of resignation to Kaiser High School. Concerned for the safety of his family due to physical threats, which lead to the cancellation of the Kaiser football season, he said in his statement, “Although I will miss our players, I must prioritize. The emotional, mental, and physical well being of my wife and children are my highest priority.” When reflecting on the past two years spent as coach, Martinez explained about the hopes he had for the Kaiser High School football team. He said, “We believed in teaching our players to be great people, students, and athletes, in that order.” Additionally, Martinez voiced his gratitude for having the opportunity to coach, saying, “I want to thank our coaching staff, our parent boosters, our community supporters and most importantly, our players… [who] worked very hard to represent the school and community with great pride.” Thinking of the regrets he will have following his resignation, Martinez said, “I am saddened that this season was cut short. [This] is not how I wanted it to end.”
